This is a very rare IBM System 3 Computer Console that is dated on backside and stamped with “Manufactured on “March 22, 1974”. Note – The Emergency Pull Switch is a replacement, but all other parts are original. This IBM System 3 was designed, developed and offered to small to medium business customers by IBM in the middle 1970s. The IBM System 3 was a 96-column card machine that offered a variety of sundries hardware for tape and disk to manage business of the era. The System 3 is truly a rare treasure as only a very few were manufactured. In the same time frame the 360 System 25 to 155 were more often ordered for company growth and preserves this very rare treasure of the IBM System 3 in the 1970s. The System 3 was a new direction for IBM to sample small to medium companies, but the larger machines were historical directions. This IBM System 3 incredible machine is preserved with CPU Console measuring 24” x 26” x 5” and weighs 75 pounds with it’s own wood shipping case. The System 3 Computer is truly a precious piece of computer history from 30+ year’s age that belongs in a museum or with a professional collector.
